Yousur Al-Hlou

Yousur Al-Hlou is a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative visual journalist and writer specializing in documenting human rights abuses and potential war crimes through field reporting, visual forensics, and original cinematography. She spent nearly a decade as a journalist at The New York Times, where her reporting helped identify the Russian military unit responsible for killings during the occupation of Bucha. A former Nieman Fellow at Harvard University, she is currently a Practitioner-in-Residence at the International Human Rights Clinic at Harvard Law School, where she is researching and writing a narrative nonfiction book with Masha Froliak on alleged war crimes committed by the Russian military. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of California, Berkeley.
